Esino Lario

Esino is located in one of the most beautiful valleys of the Alps of Lombardy, northwest of the northern Grigna and under Pizzi Parlasco. The village is divided into two lower and upper cores, reachable going up from Varenna, either going from Parlasco and Cortenova with a panoramic road on the valley and lake.

It has ancient origins, dating back to the Gallo-Roman dominations, documented by the discovery of graves of shepherds-warriors Celts and reports kept in the local museum. The tower that dominates the country indicates the medieval domination.

At about 3 Km. You reach the Alpe di Cainallo, green plateau dominated by the peaks of the Grigna: it is a starting point for excursions on the Grigne, through Bogani-Bietti and Brioschi shelters. The lawns of Agueglio to 1000 m. above sea level you are in a beautiful panoramic saddle between San Defendente and Sasso Mattolino.

Ortanella

Locations in City of Esino Lario famous for the extension of its the splendid meadows at an altitude of almost a thousand meters. The town has many interesting aspects both from the point of view naturalistic. In very nice detail is the pond where you can closely observe the ecosystem of frogs and toads.
A Ortanella operates a hotel restaurant and some agroturistiche activities. E 'can also organize exciting horseback riding.
